Before You Start

EVERYTHING YOU
NEED TO KNOW.

New to the academy? Here are the answers to the questions we get asked most. Still unsure about anything — just call us or book a free trial.

Getting Started

None at all. The vast majority of our members walked in as complete beginners. Every class is coached for your level, you'll never be thrown in the deep end, and your first session is completely free so you can see how it feels.

Yes — your first trial session is 100% free, with no obligation and no card required. Book online through our Free Trial page or call 0415 399 561 and we'll set you up.

Just comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle and a towel. For striking we can lend you gloves to get started; for BJJ, shorts and a t-shirt are fine until you're ready for a gi. Turn up 10 minutes early and a coach will look after you.

Muay Thai is a traditional Thai striking art using fists, elbows, knees, shins and clinch work — technical and steeped in tradition. Kickboxing uses punches and kicks only, with no elbows, knees or clinch, and is faster-paced and more fitness-focused. Both are taught at RSA Milperra, beginner to competitor.

No experience is needed to start BJJ at RSA. Beginners train in shorts and a t-shirt while they settle in, with fundamentals classes covering positional control, guard and escapes before live rolling — a supportive, ego-free room built for first-timers.
